What guests often describe
Reiki is often chosen for the experience of quiet, intentional receiving. Guests and practitioners commonly describe warmth, calm, emotional spaciousness, deep relaxation or a sense of feeling more grounded. These personal experiences are meaningful, even though they are not the same as evidence that Reiki treats a medical condition.
What the research says
Evidence snapshot: Reiki has been studied for pain, anxiety, depression and other outcomes, but NCCIH concludes that it has not been clearly shown effective for any health-related purpose; studies have generally been inconsistent or low quality. Reiki has not been shown to have harmful effects. At Chi, we describe its experiential qualities without presenting unproven health claims.
